A water filter is primarily used for the elimination of Taste, Odour, Scale and Cyst inhibition in the ice machine application.  Filter systems and cartridges are sold in relation to the amount of ice produced by the equipment over a 24 hour period.  Smaller ice makers and filter systems will have one primary filter only whereas larger filter systems will have a pre-filter as well as a primary filter.
